Outdoor buildings for campsites, glampsites and schools
Timber accommodation, shelters, tree decks and outdoor classrooms, made by carpenters in our workshop near Chailey and installed on your site. We work with campsite and glamping operators, schools and landowners across Sussex and the South East, and further afield for the right project.
What we build
Glamping and campsite accommodation
Timber domes and roundhouses, shepherd’s huts, cabins and pods, and permanent timber replacements for yurts and bell tents. We also build the smaller buildings a site needs around them, such as stores, shelters and reception huts.
Forest school and outdoor learning
Forest school shelters and fire-pit huts, outdoor classrooms, stores, tree decks and walkways, built for children to use through the school year. Our most recent is a tree deck, rope bridge and ten-sided fire-pit hut for a Dorset prep school.
Treehouses and raised decks
Decks built around trees and across sloping, overgrown ground, on posts set to the fall of the land, with bridges, stairs and slides to connect them back to the path.
Recent project
Tree deck and fire-pit hut for a school woodland
A 98 m² deck built around an old tree trunk on sloping woodland, reached by a rope bridge, with a spiral stair and a slide back down. Nearby, a ten-sided fire-pit hut that we designed from the concept sketch and then built.
A builder with a workshop
Made in our workshop
We have a large workshop near Chailey in East Sussex. Where it suits the job, we cut, frame and finish parts under cover there, so less of the work happens on your pitches or playing fields.
Carpentry is our core trade
Radial roofs, curved decks and ten-sided huts are geometry that many builders avoid. Structural carpentry and joinery are what we do, so this is the work we want.
From sketch to something buildable
Bring us a designer’s scheme, a concept or just a sketch. We work it up with a structural engineer into details that can be built, and design smaller buildings ourselves.
Installed around your season or term
We plan installation around your trading season, or around term dates for schools, and keep the work area separate and safe while guests or pupils are nearby.
Replacing canvas with timber
Moving a site from canvas to timber is usually a programme rather than a single order. We can plan it with you over several seasons: a batch of units each winter, installed before you open, so the site keeps trading while it changes.
It pays to talk to us early, while the layout, drainage and services can still change. Planning and your site licence stay with you or your consultant. We give clear answers on what is buildable, how units reach each pitch, and what a realistic programme costs.
